When I first started LaceMoods, lingerie felt like the most natural place to begin.
Part of the reason was simple: I knew people in the lingerie industry, I understood the products better than many other categories, and I thought it might be easier to start from something I already had access to. At that time, I also liked what lingerie represented to me — softness, femininity, confidence, and those small private moments that do not necessarily need to be seen by anyone else.
But after running the site for more than a year, I started to understand something more clearly.
What I care about is not only lingerie.
I care about how a product makes someone feel.
That feeling might come from lace, but it can also come from a scent in a room, a gift chosen for someone you care about, a small object sitting on a desk, a preserved flower that stays a little longer than expected, or even a character toy that makes you smile for no practical reason at all.
At some point, I realised that if I kept LaceMoods inside one category, I would also be limiting the ideas I wanted to put into it.
So the brand is growing.
Not because I want to erase where it started, and not because lingerie no longer belongs here. It still does. I still want softness, femininity, and that slightly romantic feeling to live inside LaceMoods.
I just no longer want those things to exist only through lingerie.
I want them to appear in scent, gifting, self-care, home objects, playful pieces, and eventually in products we create ourselves.
Maybe this is also how I have changed.
When I was younger, I sometimes thought growing up meant becoming more practical, more serious, and less attached to the things that felt “cute” or unnecessary. But now I think differently. I do not think we need to leave that part of ourselves behind.
We can still like beautiful packaging. We can still buy something simply because it makes us happy. We can still keep a little character on the desk, light a fragrance at night, wear something soft just for ourselves, or choose a gift because it carries a feeling we cannot quite explain.
We are still that once-cute version of ourselves.
Maybe we just have more stories now.
That is also why Play & Collectibles does not feel strange to me as part of LaceMoods. A toy does not always have to belong to a child. Sometimes it is a memory, sometimes it is a character we identify with, and sometimes it is simply something that makes a corner of our life feel more like our own.
The same idea runs through almost everything I want LaceMoods to become: everyday things can carry emotion.
There is another change happening too.
Over the past year, more of my work has moved into B2B, sourcing, supplier communication, product development, packaging, samples, and the less visible work that happens before a product ever reaches a customer.
I have spent a lot of time between brands and factories, trying to understand what one side wants and helping the other side make it possible.
And slowly, I started to think: maybe this experience should also become part of LaceMoods.
That is why we are adding a For Brands side.
I do not want it to become the kind of sourcing website that simply says, “We can find factories in China.” Finding factories is not difficult anymore. What matters more is knowing which supplier is worth talking to, whether a quotation makes sense, whether a sample really reflects what will happen in production, whether a test report is relevant, and how to keep a product moving when details start changing.
For me, that work is still connected to the same thing I cared about when I started LaceMoods: turning an idea into something real, without losing the feeling behind it.
Of course, I also want LaceMoods to reach a larger market.
I want the site to have more value. I want it to serve more people. I want the work I have already put into it to grow into something broader instead of staying inside a category that may no longer be enough for where I want to go.
But “bigger” does not mean becoming less like ourselves.
I still want LaceMoods to feel soft.
I still want it to have a little romance, a little playfulness, and a little space for things that do not need to justify their existence beyond making life feel nicer.
The difference is that there is more room now.
More products, more ideas, more people we can work with, and more things I want to try.
I also write about this process more personally on Flowanriver — not only the finished decisions, but the uncertainty, the changes of mind, the things that work, and the things that do not. LaceMoods is becoming one of the places where those ideas take physical form, while Flowanriver is where I often think them through.
I do not know exactly what LaceMoods will look like a few years from now.
I actually like that.
What I know is that lingerie is not disappearing, softness is not disappearing, and the person who started this brand has not disappeared either.
She just wants a little more room.
